Neko Box Fine Print Co creates beautiful vintage Japan-inspired art prints for your home.
The art prints
Who is Neko Box?
Neko Box was started by Carly Hitchcock and Rob McMaster in a small apartment in Tokyo in 2016. We quickly grew Neko Box into a successful online store selling Japanese homeware, stationery and subscription boxes to crafts-lovers all over the world. When we returned to New Zealand in 2019 we wanted to keep sharing our passion for traditional Japanese culture, and Neko Box Fine Print Co was born! Find out more about us here.
I love your prints! Where do you get the inspiration from?
We spent almost four years in Japan and were inspired by the daily life and visual culture that surrounded us. We were lucky enough to travel Japan and experience the rich history and traditional crafts which make each region so unique.
How do you create your art prints?
Each concept is discussed thoroughly between Carly and Rob (the artist) before starting the sketching process. Once the idea is finalised Rob works with traditional mediums like Japanese sumi ink, before colouring the art works digitally.
What kind of printing and paper do you use?
All pieces are printed using archival quality inks on premium matte, natural white, acid-free 210gsm smooth paper. With proper care your print should last a lifetime. We recommend framing your prints professionally, keep them out of direct sunlight to prevent fading and hang in a temperate, low-humidity environment.
What size are the prints?
Currently all art prints are A3 size (297 x 420mm). We will be adding larger sizes in the near future.
Do you offer framing?
Yes! All art prints have the option of coming framed in a slim oak frame. Frames are made in New Zealand from natural wood.
All frames come with a hanging kit for easy hanging. Frame thickness is 20mm wide by 20mm deep. Finished frame dimensions are 330 x 450mm for A3 size prints. Frames have acid free backing boards and standard 2mm glass. A3 frames are traditionally strung with d-rings. Oak frames are natural, uncoated wood and slightly darken over time (just like many traditional Japanese wooden crafts!) Make sure to hang your framed print carefully. We are not liable for any damage.
We offer FREE courier shipping within New Zealand. We also ship to Australia and the rest of the world. Find out more here.
Please note that shipping does not include any customs fees, taxes or duties that might be incurred when sending internationally.
A3 unframed prints are carefully placed inside a protective plastic sleeve, wrapped in thick cardboard and placed inside a home-compostable mailer bag for shipping.
A3 framed prints are protected with bubblewrap.
Coming soon – larger prints are shipped flat in recycled cardboard, or rolled in tubes depending on the size.
